Warrior Care Clinic
Coming Fall 2025
Warren Local School District, in partnership with Hopewell Health, will expand healthcare access through a new school-based health center, the “Warrior Care Clinic.” The Warrior Care Clinic is set to open at the beginning of the 2025 school year and will be located in Building 6 on the Warren Local School campus.
The clinic is backed by a $1,371,200 grant from Ohio’s Appalachian Children’s Health Initiative providing the full capital investment and a one-year operating budget. This initiative, part of a larger $64 million investment led by Gov. Mike DeWine, aims to increase healthcare services in 36 communities across Ohio’s Appalachian region.
The Warrior Care Clinic, located in Building 6, will have a separate, secure entrance for community members, ensuring privacy and safety for students. It will serve as both a primary care facility and a school-based clinic, offering services for the community in primary care and preventive care, additionally students will continue to take advantage of the already existing partnership between Warren Schools and Hopewell Health for mental health services.
This expansion seeks to bridge healthcare gaps for Warren’s students and families, providing easy access to medical services without requiring travel. Rural areas like Southeast Ohio often struggle with limited healthcare resources, and school-based health clinics (SBHCs) like the Warrior Care Clinic address these challenges by offering critical services within the school setting. Benefits include improved student health, reduced absenteeism, better academic performance, and convenient access to care for families, which can reduce healthcare costs and emergency room visits.
The Appalachian Children’s Coalition and Nationwide Children’s Hospital were instrumental in preparing the grant, with Nationwide also providing technical support for the effective implementation of this project.
