Vincent - The Warren girls track team will be well represented in the Ohio State high school track meet, which begins Friday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus.

The Warren girls will have no less than three individuals aiming for podium finishes as well as a pair of relay teams.

“We are extremely proud of the girls that qualified for state and this is the largest group we have had go to state in at least 10 years,” said WHS head coach Sally Maddox. “Our goals are to do our very best and hopefully that will be good enough to get us on the podium.”

Leading the way for the Warren will be senior pole vaulter Erin Bogard, who will be making her fourth consecutive appearance in Columbus.

Bogard comes into the meet as a favorite after breaking the regional record last Saturday at Muskingum University in the Division II, Region 7 meet by vaulting 12 feet, 5 inches.

That height was one inch higher than the previous record which was set by Indian Valley’s Kayla Caldwell and stood for a dozen years.

Last season Bogard stood on the All-Ohio podium by placing a career-best fourth with a vault of 11-8.

“She is heading into the meet with one of the best jumps so we are very excited to see how she does,” said Maddox of Bogard, who will vault at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. “She has worked extremely hard and qualifying all four years is incredible. We are very proud of all she has accomplished.”
