Parkersburg - For the second consecutive match, the Parkersburg South Patriots were within striking distance of victory, only for the opposing team to snatch the win away at the last moment.
This time it was the Warren Warriors playing spoiler, winning 164-166 at South Hills Golf Club on a rainy Monday afternoon. Always a good stmpping ground for Warren and head coach Nathan Evans at South Hills, Evans believes that with a close victory over a good team on a tough course.
Warren will continue to build off the win to help with momentum during the season. As Seth Dennis and Caleb Davis are trying to get up to speed after spending the majority of the summer playing American Legion Baseball, reaching the Great Lakes Regional.
“We always enjoyed coming over here, because we always seem to have really good matches. I think it’s a tough course. So it gives us a chance to come over and play on some small greens and against a really good team. We’ve been kind of trending in the right direction playing a little bit better for the past week and a half. I’m proud of the guys for just sticking with it and coming in with pretty good scores today,” Evans said. “We’re just getting back into the groove with some of our guys back. We had a couple of guys playing Legion baseball, we’re trying to try to find our groove and it feels good to get a win.”
