Vincent - Warren put an exclamation point on an outstanding first half of the 2019-2020 basketball season Saturday afternoon with a dominating 55-33 win over the visiting Magnolia Blue Eagles.
The Warriors canned four 3-pointers in the first quarter alone as they built a 20-5 lead and never looked back to notch their 10th win of the season against just one defeat.
Senior Sommer Saboley had the hot hand for Warren as she scored eight points in the opening quarter including a pair from behind the arc.
“We came out and moved the ball really well and Sommer was hitting right from the get-go,” said Warren head coach Amy Colgrove.
“We were able to get her some open looks and she was knocking them down.”
Warren extended its hot start into the second quarter when Alexis Frazee connected on a 3-pointer and after Magnolia’s Lara Ann Smith answered with a triple of her own the Warriors scored the next eight points capped by another three by Soberly to open up a 31-8 advantage.
While the Warrior offense came out clicking on all cylinders, the defense was just as impressive as they forced the Eagles into 17 turnovers in the first 16 minutes of the game.
