Vincent - Peyten Kellar just keeps on winning.
Last Saturday, the Warren High junior wrestling standout extended his streak to 23-0 with a first-place 5-0 mark in the 145-pound weight division at the Miami Trace McDonalds Invitational in Washington Court House.
Kellar, third ranked in the state at 145 in Ohio Division II and an OVAC champion, recorded five pins against Miami Trace’s Keegan Williams (opening round), Logan Elm’s Chris Yoak (second round), Westfall’s Trenton Page (third round), Miami Trace’s Vincent Munro (sixth round), and Greenon’s Evan Davis (championship final), respectively.
Kellar’s first-place performance helped the Jeff Parsons-coached Warriors finish runners-up to host Miami Trace in a 17-school field.
Also scoring at the McDonalds invite were runner-up Brady Oberdier (170 pounds, 3-1 mark); third placers’ Hayley Snyder (106, 4-1) and Jake Welch (285, 4-1); fourth placers’ Cole Coleman (113, 2-3) and Brock Bowen (152, 3-2); sixth placers’ Brody Tait (132, 3-2) and Kaleb Tait (220, 3-2); and seventh placers’ Austin Carpenter (195, 1-3) and Owen Richarson (285, 1-3).
Going into this Saturday’s 10 a.m. Jimmy Wood Invitational at New Lexington High, Oberdier has a 14-3 record and is ranked 14th at 160 in D2.
Snyder is 15-8 and ranked No. 4 at 101 pounds in the Ohio Girls State Rankings, but…
“She just pinned the girl who is ranked second at Miami Trace for third place,” Parsons said.
